Performance Management is the second basic concept relating to human resources management.  The main function of this theory is to improve the fundamental and most important factors of an organization.  It assists employees of an organization to become efficient and productive becoming their best selves.

“Usually, employees have a defined set of responsibilities that they need to take care of. Performance management is a structure that enables employees to get feedback on their performance – to reach their best performance” (Vullpen, 2021)

According to the above explanation, it is clear that this is a mechanism that helps employees to evaluate themselves in terms of their performance. In order to get feedback on their performance, different tools and instruments are involved.

360 Degree Feedback

360 Degree Feedback is a tool that helps to evaluate employee performance in the organizations by HR- Professionals.

“360 Degree Feedback is a system or process in which employees receive confidential, anonymous feedback from the people who work around them. This typically includes the employee's manager, peers, and direct reports” (Insight, 2021).

This is a highly effective tool since it helps to understand employees on how their performance is perceived by their co-workers, supervisors, and top management.  The effectiveness depends upon keeping the anonymous state of the commenters.  This helps to give them their honest views of the employees unless otherwise, they would not give their honest reviews on the employee. This tool helps employees evaluate themselves on their performance and help them identify their strengths and weaknesses which lead to improving their performances which in return improves the productivity of the respective organizations.

Project Performance Management Cycle

“Usually, companies work with an annual performance management cycle, which involves planning, monitoring, reviewing, and rewarding employee performance” (Vullpen, 2021). Performance Management Cycle helps management or the employees to differentiate low performers from high performers of any organization.

“A performance management cycle is a continuous improvement process for planning, checking, and measuring employee performance. It works in a way that meets the overall goal of performance management: aligning the success of employees with the success of an organization” (fourvision, 2021). According to the above definition, a performance management cycle comes in handy to evaluate the performance of the employees, assess their performance, and keep tracking them. Further, this helps to keep employee motivation high as they are made frequently to think about their goals. Other than that, in case the performance of the employees is lacking in them, this process is useful to provide them with necessary support and moreover, this helps to identify employees with low performance and replace them with potential employees.
